Whilst our volunteer editors will do their best to ensure our events listings are as up to date and accurate as possible; with the fast pace of how things are changing, it is inevitable that some will slip through the net. If you are planning on travelling for larger events, we would recommend that you contact the venues directly to avoid disappointment. We are putting in place new measures to give event organisers a friendly reminder to see if they wish to remove cancelled events, so we're sorry if it looks a bit bare in here :(

For LGBTQ+ History Month we present Peter Gill’s poignant exploration of gay romance, family responsibility and class conflict, set against a backdrop of 1960s rural Yorkshire. This play won the London Critics’ Circle Award and five star reviews, and will leave you contemplating what it really means to belong.

Who Killed The Mad Scientist? A Murder Mystery Play, 17th February 2023 to 18th February 2023, 19:45 to 22:45 at Headgate Theatre Colchester, Chapel Street North, Colchester (21.7 miles)
It’s October 1882 and a terrible murder has been committed in the laboratory of Felix Oppenmeister. Can you help the Inspector solve the case? This interactive show is suitable for the whole family. Team up and look out for clues in the story, search the stage in the interval and chat to the actors who may or may not be helpful!

Megson: An evening of acoustic music, 25th February 2023, 19:30 to 21:30 at Headgate Theatre Colchester, Chapel Street North, Colchester (21.7 miles)
Four times nominated in the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards and double winners of the Spiral Earth Awards, Megson draw heavily on their Teesside heritage to create a truly unique brand of folk music. Rotaract Club of Southend meet at TEAC Wheelbase Club, Eastern Esplanade (1.1 miles)
Roteract is a club for 18 to 30 year olds meeting every 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month. We do fundraising and community projects around Southend. Last year we raised £1250 for Bosom Pals, £500 for the Southend Night Shelter and £200 for Mcmillan Nurses.
We also have a very full social calendar. We go to the cinema, have pub/club nights, pool competitions, bowling, dvd nights, poker nights (for fun), meals out, melas in cooked by one of the members.

Southend Drama Society was established in 1947 and are still going strong. They put on two full length plays per year, they enter the All England Festival annually and they also put on some one act plays/sketches. They meet every Tuesday thrroughout the year
